A lone Elephant in the Kruger National Park, trying to scare us off. This is a scan of a slide taken in about 1993, hence the slightly weird colour. This should be a little less yellow in colour balance, although the bushveld is a yellow colour and the leaves on the thorn tree in the foreground are slightly yellow. However it was taken in very strong light with probably a 500mm lens as I can assure you being this close to the elephant in this mood in reality, would have been too dangerous. I decided to submit this because of the composition and "animals in the wild" aspect, even though the quality of the scan could be better.
Not been around for a while so much going on in the summer - love this he looks as dark and threatening as he is probably benefits from the strange colours and grain.

yeah- my scanner is playing up big time at the moment- cant figure it out but it seems to be dragging yellow out of greens and blues out of white .grrrr

Keep away is right! I remember editing some video footage of Africa for one of my clients recently and one of the shots was very similar to this. Good times.
.. glad you like it even though the colour is a little off..it does go off in an interesting way. I do believe it is the fault of the scanner rather than the slide though

(After reading previous comments) - It's an old photo of a wild elephant so it's to be expected that it's not perfect. The photo tells a story of you getting closer than most to an elephant out in the bush - a shared memory of yours so to speak.

..thanks Andy..yes..most of my photos are really more about sharing the moment and my attempts to do the moment photgraphic justice in the process - sort of incidental- in some respects

Finally I found the time and effort to do another watchers feature. A lot of new-comers have shown up since the last feature, and I want to thank them all for being interested in my works. I've roamed through all their galleries, and picked the one, two or three best deviations made by each. I hope you will enjoy this collection as much as I enjoyed making it!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
